The abundant open waters and the vast fields of grain create a safe environment for large numbers of migratory waterfowl. The "Central Flyway" near Pierre collects over 400,000 Canada geese and nearly all of North Americas other waterfowl species. Unbelievable concentrations of geese in flight are common throughout the season. Many Winter here because of unfrozen water and readily available food. This is one of the few places in the United States where you'll find waterfowl six months out of the year.

All of our goose hunting is done in our fields over decoys. This creates some spectacular shooting as you know. We hunt from foxhole pits and temporary blinds to conceal ourselves in the open fields.  We continually decoy new areas where unaware geese are likely to land.
