South Dakota Hunting Trips
Premier South Dakota Pheasant and Goose Hunting

Fall Pheasant Hunts
(October 18 thru January 4)

South Dakota Pheasant Hunting

We hunt wild birds only and believe in a fair chase hunt.  Traditional South Dakota walking and blocking methods with dogs are used.  You will be hunting around the Pierre area on private land.  Our professional guides will pick you up each morning and take you hunting for the day.    Each farm we hunt has planted cover set aside for nesting and producing large numbers of birds in the wild.  There are thousands of acres on each farm to hunt if needed.

Our hunters are amazed at the numbers of birds they see each day. Virtually all of our clients bag their limits of pheasants each year.

We enjoy the challenge of showing you how to hunt South Dakota's native wild birds.  These birds are really smart and know their territory.  They are born in the area they inhibit and use their instincts to survive.  They have the natural instinct to run from the sounds of danger and fly high if flushed.  In many cases, they will break out, find in the air, and fly right through the widest gap between two hunters in a group everytime.

Wild birds typically run in "clutches" and are moving around through large areas of thick cover throughout the day. Very rarely do you see them first before they see you. Some of these areas we hunt and the number of birds in them are quite large.  Although we can accommodate all size groups, an ideal sized group for us is 4 to 16 people.

Not everyone has to be in top physical shape to participate. For instance, the younger, stronger hunters can walk the fields flushing birds while the older "seasoned" hunters can find plenty of challenging shots standing and blocking at the ends. Also, witness some of the best veteran top-notch lab's at work pointing, flushing and retrieving every bird along the way. There are also opportunities for a few Sharptail Grouse and Prairie Chicken during the hunt. You will also see jackrabbits, deer, antelope, coyote, fox, skunk, badger, owls, hawks, eagles, falcons, harriers, and other species. Truly a hunters' paradise!

Combination Hunts
(two events per day)

Duck hunting, goose hunting, grouse hunting, walleye fishing, salmon fishing, and sporting clays are all possible options before or after the pheasant hunt.  Can you believe it!  All of these opportunities just minutes away!

Fall Waterfowl Hunts
(November thru February 6)

South Dakota Goose HuntingThe open water of the Missouri River is an important part of the "Central Flyway" for the waterfowl migrations. We can have some good opportunities for ducks, sandhill cranes and all species of geese at certain times throughout the fall.

Around mid November, a certain number of larger Canada geese arrive here in town and winter here for the year. By the time the open waters of Canada and the Northern Plains waters freeze for the winter, the remaining waterfowl will funnel down the Missouri River thru our area and winter here. Here with its size below the Oahe Dam, the Missouri River never freezes. It is then the only  body of open water around from the Great Lakes to the West Coast.

Our duck season closes the first week of January and the goose season extends into the first part of February. Leftover non-resident licenses for private land only are usually available here over the counter after the early season drawings are completed. They allow you to hunt with us on our land only so you will definitely need a guide. You will also need to purchase a federal waterfowl stamp or bring a license with one you previously purchased from another state.  We will also be offering on the water duck and goose hunts out of a new 21' boat blind on the waters of the Missouri River for the fall 2010.  To participate in this hunt, you must apply for a statewide 5 day 00B86 non-resident waterfowl drawing license drawing before June 1st.

Private Group Hunts

We are not a large hunting operation.  We would rather guide one large group at a time if possible and rarely have more than two smaller groups at a time.  For some, it has become an annual event.   For others, it is a social event where friends and families can can get together and spend some quality time enjoying the outdoors.  For whatever reasons, we look forward to having fun with them and hopefully they look forward to having fun again with us.  If you have a group that may be looking for this type of private hunting experience, please give us a call.
