That’s Fishing
Although the walleye bite wasn’t the greatest today, It was still fun to see a 10-year-old stick it out and catch fish by himself.
River Bite in Pierre
Great day on the river, all smiles.
Cooling Off and Heating Up
Summer temps are cooling off and walleye bite on Lake Oahe is heating up.
Take a Kid Fishing
Nice bunch of walleye today.
Lots of Bait
Friends
I took out some college friends from 43 years ago. It was a great reunion lots of memories and the bite is good.
Bite Is Warming Up
The waters are warming up (65*) south of Pierre and the nicer fish are starting to bite.
Slowly Heating Up
Fish are starting to bite a little better. It has been taking all day. There’s lots of smelt and other forage fish everywhere with the cooler temperatures.
Here’s a few walleyes and smallmouth from Lake Oahe.
We were working for the Outpost lodge Brandon Brake is the new owner. It was our first day on the lake and the bite was fairly slow. Our group did not limit on walleye but had a nice catch anyway. Some of the larger walleyes were running between 18 and 21 inches.
We fished the Pierre area today due to the winds.
We fished the Pierre area today due to the winds. The walleye seem to be a little better shape than West Bend. Our group today are from El Paso, Texas on their way to eventually Devils Lake. We found a decent concentration of walleye above the bridges and they cracked them pretty good on jigs.
First trip of the season is in the books.
First trip of the season is in the books. The bite was fairly slow with all the wind we’ve had the last few days. Warm stable weather would be nice. All four of us tried our luck throwing jigs and bottom bouncer minnows and we came up a couple short on walleye.
Grandfathers, Grandson, and in between
Grandfathers, grandson and in between get their pheasant limits each day.
