We had 8 to 12 inches of snow on the ground and it’s hard to get anywhere. Hundreds of pheasants are wintered up in the trees for the rest of the winter. We will start feeding them probably after the first of the year. The snow has crusted up all the cornfields and it looks we’re in for another one. My friend Jim from Montana came out and brought his great dogs for a winter hunt. He’s a lot tougher than I am trudging through crusty snow. His dogs toenails were bleeding some from the sharp snow as well. We left them alone in the tree belts and found just enough birds feeding in the snow filled hunting strips to get his limit each day.
